Website Tutorial Menu Introduction
|
Your Site is Up and Running, Now What? Does your site come up in Google for your targeted keyword phrases? If it does, than that's a great start. If it doesn't than go back to read the section on search engine optimization. When a website is working correctly, you should be getting traffic from people finding your site in search engines. Remember to be realistic. If people don't use the internet to find your product or service in the first place, don't expect much web traffic. You can test your keywords phrases in wordtracker.com to see who's searching for what. It's about $7 per day, or you can experiment with the limited trial for free. Tracking Your Traffic Your website hosting package should have some sort of online tracking capabilities. You should be able to login and find how many visitors are coming to your site. You should also be able to tell what search phrases they are using to find your site. Most of the tracking tools will give you more information than you'll know what to do with. Avoid using a traffic hit counter on the bottom of your home page. They are sure sign of a amateurish site. If you still want to use one, make it invisible to site visitors. Additional Tools If the tools offered by your hosting company are not adequate for your tracking needs, there are a myriad of third party add-on tools available. See the resources page for these.
